Medicolegal respiratory expert opinion

Dr Cameron offers expert witness opinion in a variety of medico-legal cases and is registered as an Expert Witness with The Law Society of Scotland.

Dr Cameron has received multiple instructions across the spectrum of medico-legal cases:

  • Criminal cases - failure to provide, falling asleep at the wheel (Sleep Apnoea), cough syncope

  • Personal injury - exposure to mould in the home, industrial injuries (inorganic dust, vapours)

  • Clinical negligence - anaphylaxis, pneumonia, ventilatory failure

  • Fatal accident inquiries - pulmonary thromboembolism

Lung disease can prevent drivers from providing an adequate specimen at the roadside.

Cough syncope can lead to loss of control of a vehicle.

Fees:

  • Fee for basic personal injury report £1000-£1500

  • Fee for clinical negligence: £1500 - £2000

  • Fee for consultation in chambers: £250

  • Expert opinion for drink-driving/sleep apnoea cases: £1250 (includes examination in chambers)

  • Half day court attendance: £1000

  • Full day court attendance: £1800

  • Additional review of complex medical records: £250 per hour (indicative amount 500 pages notes per hour)
